John Dolmayan - A fresh beat of courtesy.
John Dolmayan is the drummer of System of a Down. In today's small minded society drummers
don't seem too 'worthy' of many intervews, which as an average joe is the only way I can learn about the people behind
the music. Therein I confess I don't know that much about John. I know that he is one of three members of S.O.A.D.
that was born in Armenia (Daron was born in Hollywood but his parents are Armenian). I've yet to find the intervew that
tells me when exactly he came to the US but I know it was at a pretty young age.
However I don't want my site to be about the bands personal facts and private details . I want it
to be more on a spiritual level and just let you all know what I believe each member to be like. I apologise herein
to all of S.O.A.D. but I don't actually know you and I know it! It's a really long opinion - that's what this site is!
Anyway - though we may not know too much about John we ALL know he is there! He describes himself
as the "meat and potatoes" of S.O.A.D.. Everyone I speak to brands him as "miserable" as on photo shoots he isn't seen smiling
much but lately I read a "Revolver" intervew with John and got the impression of a courteous and polite human being.
Something today's society seem to lack.
He talked about how if you just open a door for someone and they smile they may carry that feeling
on and pass it on. I have always believed that if you smile for long enough - some part will eventually smile
back with you!
It also amuses me that John is the only member of the band that can walk freely around the public
without being recognised. Even when he was once sat in a McDonalds outside a gig, whilst four kids chatted about going
to see the show, not noticing that John was sat there quietly eating his fries!
