Serj Tankian - Modern, misunderstood messiah

Serj Tankian is a man in a league of his own!  Again he is branded to his most known instrument - his voice. But what a fucking voice!  Roars like a demon on speed, bounces like a manic on coke, then slipping into a deeply serene, powerful but almost sleepy hum.  Whenever the fancy takes him.

However - he also plays guitar.  And the piano.  And the violin.  Yet the thing I love about him most is that whenever you read any intervew with him you can't help but get the sense of a private and intellegant man.  With his wisdom and tranquility bordering on an almost god-like plain, he will simply state "I try to smile at everything in life... I tried damn hard!".

He is also the most activist member of S.O.A.D. and he uses his vocal, musical and poetic gifts to promote a message to society.  Either through S.O.A.D. or 'Food not Bombs!' or through Axis of Justice with Audioslave's Tom Morrello.  He gives the impression of a human being on a personal voyage to change today's society (it needs ALL the help it can get personally speaking!).  All the respect and adoration I feel for him also wierdly seems nothing to what I feel he deserves.  To me he is the Bob Geldof of the Metal music world. (Without looking to much like Satan... sorry Bob!).

Serj has definately made ME more aware of our planet's many flaws and his words fuel a desire within me to do my own part in whatever way I can.  I'm no longer ashamed about getting most of my clothes from charity shops anymore as I know the money goes to those who need it, those who could die without it.  (Plus I get some bloody bargains!).

Through his words on life alone I've found a new fondness for being alive which in turn has given my relationship with my baby daughter a whole new level.  Every smile and every moment is precious to me now and I can smile and live my life today - not dwell on the sorrows of yesteryears.

Serj - If I could ever meet you I could NEVER thank you enough my brother.

Thank You.
