A fans p. o. v. of S. O. A. D.

There are lots of things that could be said about System of a Down. Most of which have already been said by journalists and critics worldwide. "Political" (blah blah), "Social" (nah nah) "Wacky..weird" (Yawn!) "Hairy loons" (zzzZZ!!).

But this website is different. I don't do biographies. Neither am I a critic or journalist (working on the latter though, more on that in a mo!) This site is dedicated to System of a Down alone. It is a site built by a fan for other fans to read and maybe learn something. I'm just an average person that is so overwhelmed by a love (for lack of simpler words), not to mention their music, their message, their shows and their opinions and ideas that, wanting to be a music journalist, decided to write it all down. Everything I know and feel about this unique metal four-piece band that is... SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

And why not?

So, for those of you who aren't familiar with System of a Down I will now give you a brief band history (I did warn you - biographie's aren't my strong point!).

System of a Down are, as I said, a four-piece metal band. Each member is of Armenian heritage. Armenia is a small country bordering Turkey and Iran. Through the (sadly forgotten) Ottoman massacre (1915 - 1923) hundreds of thousands lost their lives to genocide (though the true total is believed to be over a million, no one will ever know). The Turkish goverment has denied it's involvement ever since but you need on have to refer to S.O.A.D.'s "P.L.U.C.K." (Politically Lying Unholy Cowardly Killers!) to feel the 'tip of the iceberg' sense of this band's anger. And no doubt that of Armenian survivors and their families through the world.

To talk about the band themselves I'm going to talk about each member individually then explain how it all came together to what we know and love today so click on the member you want to read about and leave me a message on the board. I'd love to talk to other fans and to all those who try to send me hate mail I only have this message:

I am a big girl in a harsh world and I could not give two flying fucks what you want to say so please don't waste my time or your precious i.q. points! (You may need both of them somewhere in life!).
